Airplane Mode is an indie rock and from New York City. They first made waves with their self-titled documentary podcast, giving listeners an inside look at the formation of the band and their struggles and triumphs along the way. The band has just released their first studio EP titled “Amsterdam”, a collection of four songs about falling in love in a foreign land. The band broke convention by releasing the record on Apple’s iBooks Store, showcasing the tracks alongside stories, demo recordings, lyrics, and special podcast with their producer. Like the band’s approach to the music business, the songs demonstrate a wide range: from moody, minor-key vibe tracks to epic ballads to bombastic pop-punk, Airplane Mode sounds a bit like a cross between The Killers and the Foo Fighters, with perhaps a dash of Taylor Swift.
