BLACKBIRD AND THE STORM is a birdsong-inspired project which began in London, under the mentorship of producer Flood. The project was shortlisted for the UK New Music awards and headlined at the City of London Music Festival. The first single from the album received heavy airplay on BBC 6 and the second single was chosen as UK Indie Single of the Week. Marie-Juliette Bird, the writer/singer behind the project, moved to the American West and began collaborating with the Audubon Society, in the creation of a national tour. The tour kicked off January 2015 and the project won an Independent Music Award in 2015, in the category of ‘Social Action’ (Climate Change). Tracks are layered with audio samples of birdsong and other found sounds, in an homage to the origin of melody: birds.
