Biography

Same Animal is Los Angeles based artist and songwriter Joel Jarek DeGraff. Primarily working in solitude, the self-described ‘dark surrealist’, has amassed an arsenal of ambient inspired, dream enhanced, guitar driven, shoe gaze-esque pop songs. In an effort to move toward the full band model and to enhance his sound, Mr. DeGraff has most recently attracted a willing list of accomplished players to collaborate with, both in the studio and on the stage. The results of these collaborations will be released over the course of fall and winter of 2016. When appropriate, these releases will be supported by live performances that promise to be just as much a visceral and visual experience as they will be an audio one.
